What is the difference between training-grade and professional-grade LED lighting?

There are significant differences between training-grade and professional-grade lighting (including TV broadcast standards) regarding illuminance, uniformity, color rendering, glare control, and other factors.

Illuminance: For training-grade lighting, horizontal illuminance is typically 150–300 lux, with no strict requirement for vertical illuminance; for professional-grade lighting, horizontal illuminance is ≥750 lux (usually 1000–2000 lux) and vertical illuminance is ≥500 lux (≥700 lux for TV broadcast standards).

Uniformity: Training-grade requires U2 ≥ 0.5; professional-grade requires U2 ≥ 0.7 (≥ 0.8 for TV broadcast standards).

Color Rendering Index (CRI): Training-grade requires CRI ≥ 80; professional-grade requires CRI ≥ 90 and R9 ≥ 30.

Color Temperature: Training-grade allows for a range of 4000K–6000K; professional-grade is fixed at 5000K–6500K to ensure consistency for broadcasting.

Glare: Training-grade requires GR ≤ 55; professional-grade requires GR ≤ 50 (GR ≤ 45 for TV broadcast standards).

Flicker: Training-grade has no strict requirements; professional-grade requires a flicker percentage of ≤ 3% (≤ 1% for high-speed camera requirements).

Control System: Training-grade systems may use manual switching or simple timers; professional-grade systems require intelligent dimming, scene switching, and remote monitoring capabilities.

Luminaire Quality: Training-grade setups can use standard LED floodlights, whereas professional-grade setups require specially designed stadium lights featuring precision light distribution and thermal management.

Therefore, if a venue plans to host official competitions or TV broadcasts, it must be designed according to professional-grade standards; if intended solely for internal training, standards may be appropriately lowered to reduce investment costs.
