Dark areas refer to areas on the field where the illuminance is significantly lower than the surrounding area, disrupting uniformity. The causes and solutions for dark areas are as follows:
First, misalignment of the light fixture. Strong winds, vibrations, or accidental contact may cause the angle of the light fixture to change, removing the light that was originally covering the dark area. Solution: Re-align according to the design angle and use locking devices to prevent loosening again.
Second, damage or non-function of individual lights. Some LED beads burn out or the driver malfunctions, causing the entire light fixture to have no output, naturally darkening the covered area. Solution: Replace the damaged driver or light board.
Third, uneven light decay. Different batches of LED beads age at different rates, causing some lights to be dimmer than others. Solution: Replace the entire light fixture for severely uneven light.
Fourth, lens or glass contamination. Dust, bird droppings, mud, etc., adhere to the glass cover, blocking light. Solution: Clean regularly.
Fifth, design flaws. The original lighting design itself had blind spots, or later site modifications (such as the addition of billboards or camera platforms) caused obstructions. Solution: Add supplementary lighting or adjust the light fixture layout.
Sixth, improper beam angle selection. For example, if the dark area is located between two narrow-angle light fixtures, it's necessary to replace them with lenses with wider angles or add more light fixtures. When troubleshooting dark areas, it's recommended to use a lux meter grid at night to pinpoint the exact location and illuminance value of the dark area, then check each light fixture affecting that area one by one. If multiple lights are working properly but the dark area still exists, it may be necessary to perform a new lighting simulation and adjust the layout.
