Installation height of 15m: Recommended power of 500–800W per light; coverage radius of approx. 20–25m; requires a larger number of fixtures (approx. 40–60 units).
Installation height of 20m: Recommended power of 800–1200W per light; coverage radius of approx. 25–35m; requires a moderate number of fixtures (approx. 30–45 units).
Installation height of 25m: Recommended power of 1200–1500W per light; coverage radius of approx. 35–45m; requires fewer fixtures (approx. 24–36 units).
Installation height of 30m: Recommended power of 1500–2000W per light; coverage radius of approx. 45–55m; requires even fewer fixtures (approx. 16–24 units).
Installation height of 40m: Recommended power of over 2000W per light; coverage radius can reach 60–80m; however, controlling uniformity is challenging, often requiring a mix of fixtures with different light distributions. Note that these are rough estimates; actual power requirements depend on factors such as beam angle, optical efficiency, maintenance factor, and target illuminance.
If higher illuminance is required (e.g., 1000 lux), the power must be doubled or the number of fixtures increased. Additionally, the greater the installation height, the narrower the required beam angle (typically 10°–20°) and the higher the precision required for aiming.
Therefore, during the initial project phase, lighting designers should use software to simulate the effects of various height and power combinations rather than relying on guesswork. A common mistake is mounting fixtures at a lower height to save on pole costs; this often results in severe glare and poor uniformity, necessitating the addition of many more fixtures and ultimately leading to higher total costs.
