What is the lifespan of the LED driver used in LED high-bay lights?

The lifespan of an LED high-bay light driver is typically 30,000 to 50,000 hours, depending on quality and operating conditions. Drivers using standard electrolytic capacitors have a lifespan of approximately 20,000 to 30,000 hours (about 3 to 5 years) at an ambient temperature of 55°C. Drivers utilizing long-life electrolytic capacitors (rated for 105°C/10,000 hours) or solid-state capacitors can achieve a lifespan of 50,000 to 70,000 hours. Under good thermal management conditions, the driver's lifespan doubles for every 10°C reduction in operating temperature. Consequently, for fixtures with excellent thermal design, the actual lifespan of the driver may approach that of the LED chip itself.

Signs of impending driver failure include flickering, reduced brightness, abnormal noise, and casing bulging. When a driver reaches the end of its service life, it can usually be replaced individually without needing to replace the entire light fixture.

When purchasing, it is advisable to inquire about the brand and specifications of the capacitors used in the driver. For critical production lines, stocking a supply of spare drivers is recommended.
