Monthly: Visually inspect steel wire ropes for broken strands, corrosion, or kinking; check winch base bolts for looseness; ensure guide pulleys rotate freely and apply lubricant; and verify the integrity of all connecting pins and cotter pins.
Quarterly: Conduct a no-load lifting test (with the luminaire carriage carrying no lights or only partial counterweights) to observe smooth operation and check for abnormal noises. Apply specialized wire rope grease (do not use standard general-purpose grease). Check the winch gearbox oil level and change the gear oil according to the manual (typically after the first 500 hours of use, and subsequently every 2,000 hours or annually).
Semi-annually: Check for uniform tension across the wire ropes and adjust the rope distributor; verify the accuracy of limit switch actuation points; and test motor insulation resistance (which should be ≥0.5 MΩ).
Annually: Engage professionals to conduct a comprehensive safety inspection of the lifting system, including wire rope flaw detection (using magnetic particle testing or visual inspection combined with caliper diameter measurements). Replacement is mandatory if broken strands exceed 10% of the total strand count or if diameter wear exceeds 7%. Simultaneously, inspect the anti-corrosion condition of all fasteners and replace rusted bolts as necessary. Maintain detailed maintenance records, including dates, maintenance activities, issues identified, and resolution outcomes.
For lifting systems that have been idle for extended periods (e.g., over six months), a comprehensive inspection and a no-load lifting test must be performed before use. Proper maintenance can extend the service life of the lifting system to over 15 years.
