How can safety be ensured during the installation of high-mast lights?

Installing high-mast lights involves working at heights; therefore, safety protocols must be strictly observed. Key measures include:

1.  Pre-construction Preparation: Develop a detailed installation plan and conduct a safety technical briefing. Inspect all lifting equipment (truck cranes, wire ropes, shackles) for valid certification and good condition. Establish a safety exclusion zone; unauthorized personnel are prohibited from entering.

2.  Foundation Inspection: Verify that the concrete foundation has reached the design strength (typically C25 or C30) and that anchor bolts are accurately positioned, with undamaged threads and no signs of rust.

3.  Pole Hoisting: Use a truck crane with sufficient lifting capacity (generally at least 1.5 times the weight of the pole). The lifting point should be above the pole's center of gravity; use nylon slings or wire ropes with protective padding to prevent damage to the galvanized coating. After lifting, slowly lower the pole onto the foundation flange, tighten the nuts initially, adjust for verticality (allowable deviation of 0.5‰), and finally tighten the anchor bolts to the specified torque using a torque wrench.

4.  Luminaire Carriage Installation: If the carriage is assembled on the ground before hoisting, securely mount all luminaires and complete the wiring before lifting the assembly as a single unit. Use lifting eyes and fall-arrest safety lines during the lift.

5.  Electrical Wiring: All cables must be routed through protective conduits, and waterproof junction boxes must be used for connections. Ensure the power supply is disconnected before performing any wiring work.

6.  Lifting System Commissioning: After installation, test the carriage lifting mechanism—first without a load and then with the load—to verify smooth operation and the reliability of limit switches.

7.  Safety Acceptance: Upon completion, inspect the pole's verticality, grounding resistance (≤4Ω), and lighting performance; the system may only be put into service after passing these checks. All installation personnel must wear hard hats and safety harnesses (when working at heights) and hold the necessary professional certifications.
