Color temperature is a physical quantity describing the spectral composition of a light source, measured in Kelvin (K). LED floodlights offer a very wide color temperature range, from low color temperature warm white light to high color temperature cool white light, and even RGB color lighting is possible.
Common choices include: 2700K~3000K (warm white light), which produces light similar to incandescent light or sunlight at sunrise, giving a warm, comfortable, and relaxing feeling. It is often used in hotel exteriors, residential landscaping, coffee shop entrances, historical buildings, and other places where a warm atmosphere is needed.
4000K~4500K (neutral white or natural white), which produces light close to midday sunlight, neither yellowish nor bluish, with good color rendering, accurately reproducing the colors of objects. It is suitable for most outdoor and semi-outdoor applications such as commercial plazas, sidewalks, parks, schools, and general industrial plants.
5000K–6500K (cool white/daylight color) emits bluish light that is very bright and glaring, providing a clearer visual experience. This color temperature enhances attention span and visual contrast, and is commonly used in stadiums, large freight yards, docks, tunnels, high-precision workshops, and areas requiring high-brightness security monitoring.
Color temperatures exceeding 6500K are generally not recommended for regular lighting due to their high blue light content. This can easily cause eye strain, potentially leading to light pollution and posing a risk to the retina. It's important to note that LED chips from different brands or batches may exhibit visible color differences (SDCM) at the same color temperature. For lighting projects requiring strict consistency (such as large-area array installations), high-quality products from the same batch with an SDCM ≤ 5 should be selected.
Furthermore, some intelligent LED floodlights support adjustable color temperature, using mixing technology to achieve stepless adjustment from 2700K to 6500K to suit different time periods or scenarios.
