An LED floodlight, also known as an LED spotlight, is a lighting device that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as its light source. Its main characteristic is its ability to produce wide-angle diffused light, evenly illuminating a large area in all directions. Compared to traditional lighting fixtures, LED floodlights have extremely high energy efficiency—typically more than 80% more energy-efficient than halogen or metal halide lamps.
Furthermore, they have a very long lifespan; high-quality products can last over 50.000 hours. Based on 10 hours of daily use, this translates to nearly 14 years of continuous operation without needing to replace the light source.
In addition, LED floodlights do not contain harmful substances such as mercury or lead. They reach full brightness instantly upon startup, with no warm-up time. Because they emit almost no infrared or ultraviolet radiation, they are safer for objects and people. Structurally, they generally consist of an LED array, a driver power supply, a heat sink, and a high-strength casing (commonly die-cast aluminum). The casing is usually designed with heat dissipation fins to ensure that the junction temperature of the LEDs is controlled within an acceptable range, thereby slowing down light decay.
Depending on the application, LED floodlights can be manufactured with various power ratings (10W to over 1000W), beam angles (10° to over 120°), and color temperatures (2700K to 6500K), and possess IP65 or higher waterproof and dustproof ratings to adapt to various complex indoor and outdoor environments.
Therefore, it has become the preferred lighting type for building facades, landscape architecture, stadiums, factory warehouses, parking lots, billboards, and even tunnel lighting.
