LED floodlights differ significantly from traditional floodlights (such as halogen lamps, metal halide lamps, and high-pressure sodium lamps) in several aspects.
First, energy consumption: LED floodlights typically have a luminous efficacy of 80–140 lumens/watt, while traditional halogen lamps only have 10–20 lumens/watt, and metal halide lamps have approximately 65–100 lumens/watt. This means that, for the same output brightness, LED floodlights consume only 1/5 to 1/8 the power of halogen lamps, and are more than 50% more energy-efficient than metal halide lamps.
Second, lifespan: High-quality LED floodlights generally have a nominal lifespan of over 50,000 hours, with some reaching 100,000 hours; while halogen lamps have only about 2,000 hours, and metal halide lamps have about 10,000–20,000 hours.
Third, startup characteristics: LED floodlights light up instantly without delay and can be frequently switched on and off without affecting their lifespan; traditional metal halide lamps require 3-10 minutes of preheating to reach full brightness, and frequent switching significantly shortens bulb life.
Fourth, environmental protection and safety: LED floodlights contain no mercury or lead, and emit no ultraviolet or infrared radiation. They do not attract insects and do not cause fading or heating of illuminated materials; traditional floodlights often contain harmful substances such as mercury or sodium, emit large amounts of infrared radiation, and are inefficient and generate high heat.
Fifth, maintenance costs: Due to their long lifespan and high reliability, LED floodlights are essentially "maintain-free" for many years after installation, while traditional lighting fixtures may require bulb replacements one to several times a year. Adding the cost of manual high-altitude work, the long-term maintenance costs differ significantly.
Therefore, although the initial purchase price of LED floodlights may be higher, their total lifespan cost is far lower than that of traditional floodlights.
