Installing LED floodlights involves electrical work and working at height, so safety regulations must be strictly followed.
First, power off the work: Before wiring or adjusting, always turn off the corresponding circuit breaker and use a voltage tester to confirm that the power cord is not energized. Never work with the power on, as the LED floodlight driver contains capacitors, and even after disconnecting the power, residual high-voltage charge may remain. Wait 1-2 minutes before touching it again.
Second, waterproof wiring: Outdoor wiring must use waterproof junction boxes (IP65 or higher) or glued junction boxes. All cable joints should use waterproof terminals and be sealed with heat shrink tubing or waterproof tape. If it is a direct hard connection, the gland at the cable entry point must be tightened, and the sealing ring must be checked for proper placement.
Third, check the load-bearing capacity: The installation point (such as the wall or light pole) must be able to withstand at least 5 times the weight of the light fixture (considering wind load). For brick walls, use through-wall bolts or chemical anchors; for concrete, use expansion bolts. Fourth, ensure proper grounding: The metal casing of the LED floodlight must be reliably grounded (yellow-green wire), and the grounding resistance should comply with local electrical specifications (usually no greater than 4Ω). Failure to ground may result in the casing becoming live during lightning strikes or electrical leaks, causing electric shock.
Fifth, protect your eyes during testing: High-power LED floodlights are extremely dazzling when lit. Do not test directly in front of the light source. It is best to wear sunglasses or observe the illumination effect through reflection from a wall.
Sixth, prevent falls: When installing at heights, use safety belts and helmets. Tools must be secured with fall arrestors to prevent injury from falling tools. Finally, after installation, test the power to ensure all functions are normal and observe for a period of time to confirm there is no abnormal heating, flickering, or unusual noises. If you lack professional electrical knowledge, it is strongly recommended to hire a certified electrician for installation.
