Abnormal noise (such as creaking, grinding, or clanking) during the raising or lowering process indicates a malfunction in the lifting system. Operations must be stopped immediately to investigate the cause and prevent equipment damage or safety accidents.
Common causes and solutions:
1. Friction between guide wheels and the mast: Guide wheel bearings may be damaged or poorly lubricated, causing a sharp grinding sound. Stop the lifting process and apply high-temperature resistant grease; if the noise persists, replace the guide wheels.
2. Friction between the steel cable and pulleys or the cable separator: This may be caused by the cable not seating correctly in the groove, pulley wear, or misalignment of the cable separator. Stop operations, inspect the cable path, and adjust the position of the pulleys or separator.
3. Internal wire breakage in the steel cable: If the noise is accompanied by a periodic "snapping" sound, a strand of the steel cable may have snapped. Immediately lower the light assembly to the ground and replace the entire steel cable.
4. Lack of oil in the winch gearbox: Poor gear meshing can cause low-frequency vibration and noise. Check the gearbox oil level and add the specified gear oil.
5. Loose light assembly hooks or fall-arrest devices: The hooks may be colliding with the mast body during movement. Lower the light assembly to the ground and tighten the hook mounting bolts.
6. Snagging of power or signal cables: Cables may become jammed or tangled during movement, producing a "crackling" or snapping sound. Stop immediately and untangle the cables. Once the noise issue is resolved, perform a no-load lifting test (without light fixtures or using a simulated weight) to confirm there are no abnormalities before resuming normal use.
