Power supply voltage fluctuations: If all luminaires on the mast flicker simultaneously at a frequency linked to the grid frequency (50Hz), the supply voltage may be unstable (e.g., due to the startup or shutdown of nearby high-power motors). Solution: Install a voltage stabilizer or active power filter in the control box, or run a dedicated power line for the high-mast light.
2. Poor contact: If only specific luminaires flicker, the cause could be loose wiring terminals, oxidized sockets, or broken internal cable strands. Retighten terminals and clean off any oxidation.
3. LED driver failure: Aging internal capacitors or a malfunctioning control chip in the LED driver can cause unstable output current. The driver needs to be replaced.
4. Dimming signal interference: If the system uses 0-10V dimming, running dimming lines parallel to high-voltage power lines can induce interference signals. Use shielded twisted-pair cables for dimming signals and route them separately from power lines. 5. Surge Protective Device (SPD) leakage: Some SPDs can cause intermittent leakage current after degrading, leading to voltage fluctuations. Disconnect the SPD to test; if the flickering stops, replace the SPD.
6. Thermal failure of LED beads: Poor soldering on individual LED beads can cause intermittent contact during temperature changes, resulting in irregular flickering. The specific bead or the entire module needs replacement. When flickering occurs, it is advisable to use a high-speed camera or a smartphone's slow-motion video function to observe the flicker frequency and pattern, which helps in diagnosing the cause.
